How to get the most from a course

Teacher and children outdoors
  1. 1. One lesson at a time

Lessons are short on purpose. Do one, then talk about it. Spreading a course over a week helps ideas stick better than finishing it in one sitting.

  2. 2. Say it in your own words

After each lesson, explain the main idea to someone else or draw it. Teaching others is one of the best ways to remember.

  3. 3. Try it in real life

Each course links to an action: watching an animal kindly, cooking a recipe or helping a friend. Doing it turns a fact into a habit.

Courses are free, need no child account and save progress on this device. Teachers can use a lesson as a 10-minute class starter.

Learn a little, then practise

Is it better to finish a whole course in one go?

Usually not. People tend to remember more when they spread learning over several short sessions and try to recall what they learned. Coming back the next day is a strength, not a delay.

  1. 1. Do one lesson

Choose one short lesson and give it your full attention.

  2. 2. Remember without looking

Later that day, try to say the main idea from memory before checking.

  3. 3. Use it in real life

Look for one moment in the week when the lesson helps you, such as being gentle with a pet.
